Dr Sarah Miller – Chief Executive, The Rediscovery Centre

Sarah is an environmental scientist and experienced business development manager.  With over 20 years professional experience, in the environmental services sector in the UK, Ireland and Australia, Sarah has worked primarily with commercial, public sector and social enterprisstart-ups ranging from large-scale mechanical and biological waste treatment plants to community-based reuse and specialist consultancy services. As Environmental Manager with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd., she gained valuable experience in strategic environmental management for urban regeneration developing action-based, results-orientated projects to encourage sustainable living practice and support environmental services. This work contributed to the attainment of over forty environmental awards for the Ballymun area including the national green community award in 2009 & 2010. During this time, she also worked on economic and social programmes and developed policy for low carbon housing schemes.

Sarah holds a PhD in Environmental Science, an Honours Degree in Processs Biotechnology and a Masters in Business Administration. In her current role as the CEO of the Rediscovery Centre, Ireland’s National Centre for the Circular Economy, Sarah has developed a working model for social enterprise design, implementation and management and has overseen the development of an ecological centre of excellence. The Rediscovery Centre operates as an innovation hub connecting people, ideas and resources to support sustainable living and the transition to the Circular Economy. Sarah has a keen interest in research and is involved in several European and nationally funded research projects in collaboration with academic and corporate partners.
